This all may depend on Canadian regulation. I believe there is a stringent process for stables and I think USDC right now is the only stable that passes regulation.

NYDFS requirements are known to be quite rigorous and they are backed by an aggressive regulator. This should be a no brainer for the OSC. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Dec 17, 2024 - The New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) recently updated their greenlist of Virtual Currency’s to now “officially” include Ripple USD (RLUSD)! https://www.dfs.ny.gov/virtual_currency_businesses
RLUSD isn’t the first one and obviously this acceptance of crypto/stable coins didn't happen overnight (clearly it's been in the works for years) so regardless of what many politicians and the media downplay or criticize on a daily basis major financial institutions/agencies in the USA (and in numerous other countries) did wake up to cryptocurrency use-cases years ago and did realize that fiat currency is old technology! Canada will eventually have to follow along or be left behind!
